ROTIS Coordinating Committee

Goal

Under the guidance of the Steering committee, the ROTIS Coordinating Committee is to plan and coordinate the ROTIS Network.

Objectives

  • Plan and coordinate network meetings
  • Raise awareness of the Reaching Out To Isolated Seniors (ROTIS) Network and the issue of isolation
  • Educate community groups, local businesses, service clubs, tenant associations in seniors buildings, and encourage their support to isolated seniors
  • Educate youth regarding seniors, integrate aging into the school curriculum, dispel myths and encourage youth to be involved with seniors
  • To provide support and leadership to the following coalitions: Transportation Coalition, New Canadian Immigrant Seniors Coalition and the Interfaith Network
  • Link through the ROTIS Coordinator with the direct service component of the network, for information sharing, gathering of statistics and ensuring progress
  • Create linkages and share information with local, provincial and federal governments, coalitions and groups who work with seniors in the community (e.g. Hoarding, Elder Abuse Network)   

Membership

Membership includes representatives from the steering committee, the lead agency, chairs of the working groups and others as needed by invitation.
The committee is chaired by the coordinator of the ROTIS Network.

Decision Making Process

Decisions will be made by consensus or majority vote.
The chair will facilitate the development of consensus. The chair has the same voting right as other members.

Frequency of Meetings

Committee members will meet a minimum of 8 times a year.
