Vision

Ottawa is a city that identifies and supports isolated seniors, thereby enhancing their quality of life and increasing their capacity to participate in their community.

Mission Statement

The Reaching Out To Isolated Seniors Network provides leadership and acts as a catalyst in building partnerships to ensure that our community nurtures and meets the needs of isolated seniors in Ottawa in a comprehensive and coordinated manner, recognizing the right of seniors to self-determination.

Purpose of the Reaching Out To Isolated Seniors Network

The ROTIS group is committed to working with businesses, community groups, agencies, faith groups and individuals to build a strong community for all seniors and to ensure a focus on the needs of isolated seniors through:

  • Leadership
  • Advocacy
  • Community building
  • Coordination and collaboration of resources
  • Communication and information sharing
  • Education and awareness

Network Goal

The goal of the Reaching Out To Isolated Seniors Network is to reduce isolation of seniors in the community through one-on-one and community strategies that meet their needs.

Network Objectives

  • To raise public awareness of ROTIS and the issue of isolated seniors
  • To educate community groups, volunteers, businesses and professionals and encourage them to reach out to isolated seniors
  • To nurture the ROTIS Network, foster partnerships and facilitate concerted action on key issues affecting isolated seniors
  • To identify isolated seniors and encourage them to enhance their skills to form social relationships and links with the community.

Working together creates a stronger voice to influence others and speak on behalf of isolated seniors and their needs.
