Who is at Risk?

An isolated senior is one who has little or no meaningful support and contact. These seniors may experience one or more of the following:

  • Finds personal care and daily tasks difficult
  • Finds it a challenge to get around
  • Has frequent falls
  • Has little contact with others
  • Stopped attending social events
  • Recently lost a relative, a friend or pet
  • Is confused, disoriented or forgetful
  • Overuses medication, alcohol and/or drugs

Many seniors have no family or friends to act on their behalf when they begin to experience difficulty.  Poor health, depression, confusion, memory loss and social isolation are just a few of the problems that may affect the ability of some older adults to care for themselves.  Not only might they have difficulty recognizing health and safety risks, but they are often unable to ask for help.  Consequently, many seniors who need help remain invisible to many community services designed to help them.

If you are concerned about a senior who is experiencing some of these difficulties, please call 613-562-6381 today for help for that senior.  YOU have the ability to make a difference in that senior's life.
